Potato/Onion Bin

My amazing friend, Christy, bought this potato and onion bin for me. We have had numerous conversations about how we each wanted one. Her grandmother had one and gave it to her back in July. Christy found one at the Goodwill and brought it to my work as a surprise! It was a nice gift and she is such a great friend!

Bartering

I got this lovely and unexpected gift from a friend of mine. She is doing a photo shoot with her soon to be husband and needed cowboy boots. I gave her a rarely used pair that I got at dsw before I became a cowboy boot snob. She loved them so I just said to keep them since I do not wear them. She thanked me by giving me this adorable Pyrex casserole bowl! See why can't bartering work in this country anymore?

Refrigerator Set: This was their plastic ware before Tupperware came along.

My mother has this bowl so I got it out of nostalgia. The creamer and sugar bowl were just cute. I do not need another set of these but oh well! I will probably give as a gift to that perfect person.

Divided dish in the Early American print:

Bright yellow mixing bowl and flower design bowl.  The flower design is actually British Pyrex. You can tell the difference because the handles on dishes are squared off.

I liked this one because the design reminded me of a knitted children's Christmas sweater.

Pyrex Love

The site Pyrex Love actually exists in case you did not know. I love Pyrex and did not start collecting it til recently. I always wanted these cute carafes, but I never wanted to fork over the dough. Can you collect "antiques" and be cheap at the same time? Is that even possible?

Blue Mason Jars with Zinc Lids

I finally found some that were not ridiculously expensive.  These were sold as a set for $20 which I thought was pretty good considering I have seen one of the bigger jars for $10-$15 alone. So excited!

Thrifting

I like to decorate with books.  I got this lovely idea from my mother in law. It gives height to the surface you are decorating and also displays books better than on a book shelf. Today I found a mason type jar with a locking device and some unique books that were written between 1910-1930.  Some had handwritten messages to friends and one was actually from the author to a friend. Maybe this will get me on antique roadshow! One of the books had three four-leaf clovers tucked inside. I can't imagine how long they have been there. I was so shocked. I have never been fortunate enough to find one let alone three. I took it as a sign to buy it. Some people just get lucky. Well, I might have to buy mine. I tucked it on the shelf next to my bed. I am superstitious enough to hope that it will aid in warding off any bad luck that may come my way.
